Recipes
One of our favorite things about cascara is its versatility. There are countless ways to incorporate this delicious superfruit into your food and drinks. One of our favorite ways to use it is making cascara simple syrup, which we then add to everything from espresso tonics to cocktails!
Here are a few of our recipes to get you started:

Cascara Simple Syrup
Try your hand at making our popular Huskwell simple syrup at home! Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add 80g cascara and cut heat. Let steep for six minutes. Add 2 cups of sugar. Stir until sugar is incorporated. Allow to sit until cool. Strain out the cascara husks and place syrup in a squeeze bottle or glass container.
Cascara Fizz
This sparkling non-alcoholic drink is incredibly refreshing (tastes like an Arnold Palmer, but way better!) and only takes three simple ingredients:
- 10 ounces of unflavored sparkling water
- 1.5 ounces of Huskwell simple syrup
- 0.5 ounces of lemon juice
Pour over ice and stir gently. Feel free to experiment with the amount of syrup or lemon juice depending on how sweet or citrusy you'd like it! Can be made in bigger batches and kept refrigerated in a screw-top bottle for several days.
Cascara Old Fashioned
The easiest and tastiest Old Fashioned you'll ever make!
- 1⁄4 oz Cascara Syrup
- 2 dashes of Aromatic Bitters (Angostura is great)
- 2oz Bourbon (preferably with a low rye content. Makers works great)
- Orange peel
Add all ingredients except orange peel to a glass and stir to incorporate. Add ice and stir briefly. Express orange peel over glass and add to drink. Enjoy.
Cascara Daiquiri
A classic daiquiri made richer and juicier with the addition of cascara!
- 1⁄2 oz Cascara Syrup
- 3⁄4 oz fresh lime juice
- 2oz unflavored white rum, such as Flor De Caña 4yr
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Shake with ice vigorously. Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass of your choice.
